(8) The Old Bricks of Margate

The old bricks of Margate are still standing
Though many a long year has passed by
We still use these old stone buildings
Their bricks reach into the sky.

We tread on the floors they tread on
So many long years ago
The people who once lived or worked there
Those people whom we didn’t know.

They left their buildings to us
So we can use them again
Gone are those who built them
And cared for them back then.

But now so many years later
We walk these old streets again
Where many long lives have gone
But the old bricks of Margate remain.
